The most overlooked gratitude layer
Gratitude is a game-changer. Being grateful changed everything when I was in the dumpster fire phase of life years ago.
And there's a deeper layer we don't often drill down to -- being grateful for ourselves, our accomplishments, and who we are. If you're acting as a perfectionist, people-pleaser, or both, you're probably glossing over these important you elements.
This is the main ingredient to feeling authentic, proud, and at peace. Every damn day.
The more gratitude and compassion you have for yourself, the stronger your self-relationship becomes and before you know it, feeling anxious and uncomfortable in a room filled with your peers turns into you feeling equal and authentically badass.
Simply put -- your Inner Critic thoughts keep you separate from the real you. Thoughts like...
I'm a fake and what if they find out?
I don't know enough
I was just lucky
I should be further along
They think I'm the expert. If they only knew.
I can’t fail
I must do everything perfectly
Your Inner Critic is the imposter and when you crowd 'her' out by focusing on more useful, productive, and accurate thoughts, you win.
So, when you think about everything you're grateful for this week, start with you.
What have you accomplished so far? Be grateful
What makes you uniquely you? Be grateful
What do you bring to the table? Be grateful
Look at how far you’ve come! Be grateful
Appreciate everything you've learned when things didn't go as planned. Be grateful
Highlight everything you know how to do and that comes easy to you! Be grateful
