Identifying Control — it’s a sneaky stall-out!

How many levels and layers are there to leting go of control? Gees! Let me know when you find out — I’m only on level 99 :)

Control is a super common stall-out behavior and these are the sneaky ways it shows up in our daily lives:

🤮 Controlling others

"I am definitely not going to tell my boss that I messed up that project because I don't want him to think I'm a screw-up (aka showing your 'best' self to others to control how they see you.)

OR

"I need to lead this morning's meeting and be home to make sure the kids take their lunches and wear jackets. I will excuse myself and call home." (aka nobody can do things as good as you...maybe you're perfect? ;)

🤮 Controlling yourself

"I can't have junk food or wine in the house because I know I'll ruin my healthy-eating streak." (aka enforcing strict parameters because you can't trust yourself in 'gray' areas.)

🤮 Controlling situations

"I stayed up all night running through today's board meeting. I think I've thought through every possible outcome and objection." (aka always running a future story that tricks you into thinking you'll feel 'in control' but you just stay anxious and stressed because...what if you didn't think of everything)

Bottom line? Control really makes you feel out of control. It's a believable lie for sure.

Do you relate to any or all of these examples? If so and you're not having the time of your life practicing them, either 1) subscribe to my newsletter where I talk about how to move out of this stall-out often, or 2) schedule a free consult.
