13 😱 scary thought categories & challenge
I'm dedicating this month to helping you understand and tame scary thoughts! We all have them and when you know how to tame them, you triple (or more!) your energy, joy, productivity, results, and time.
Everything in your life shifts when you know how to shift your thoughts.
What do scary thoughts look like in real life?
Like normal everyday thoughts honestly.
Here are some scary thought categories:
Judgment thoughts
"I suck at losing weight and I hate my body."
What-if thoughts
"December's coming, the time of layoffs and restructuring. I'm so scared because what if I lose my job?!
Not enough thoughts
"Even though I'm tired and pissed that I do so much for every damn person in my family, I still feel like I'm not doing enough."
Stress/worry/anxiety thoughts
"My week is crazy! I'm stressed about everything on my to-do list! I'm so worried that I won't get it all done."
Assumptive thoughts
"She only gave my comment a thumbs-up emoji. She's definitely mad at me."
Taking things personal thoughts
"If he cared about me and my needs he would have done the dishes tonight."
It's not that bad thoughts
"I really hate my job and dread Mondays but the pay's not bad. Could be worse!"
Guilt and shame thoughts
"I don't want to spend my only night off going to that fundraiser but, I'll feel so guilty if I don't go."
Perfectionist thoughts
"When I eat healthy I can be happy. When I don't, I feel like I failed myself"
Control thoughts
"I know they're old enough to pack their own lunches but are they really? I better do it and I better remind them to put it in their backpacks at least three times."
People-pleasing thoughts
"What do you need me to do this week to help you? I was going to start writing my book but I can put it off until next week."
Comparison thoughts
"Why am I so far behind in my business? I have just as much knowledge as Krista. I feel like shit. Maybe I need to get a real job."
Hiding thoughts
"I hate the way I talk and act when I go to networking events so I will just stay home."
Shew! That's 13 scary thought categories! Spooky! And I left some out.
Do you see what I mean, though? We say things like this without even realizing how toxic we're being to ourselves and our bodies. These thoughts spill into every area of our lives and impact our relationships, productivity, motivation, goal achievement, peace, confidence, energy, and health.
Are you up for a challenge this week?
Pick ONE scary thought category that you relate to and put a laser focus on:
When do you say or think your particular thought? What's the situation?
How often do you say or think it? Hourly? Daily? When something triggers you?
How do you feel when you say or think it?
If you can, name any sensations you experience in your body when you're thinking or saying the thought.
This experiment is the first step in getting off of auto-pilot and bringing you into the present (and out of your head where those scary thoughts just play over and over. )
This is good shit and how you learn to tame your Inner Wicked Witch!
I'll share more next week and remember to RSVP for this month's masterclass where you'll take what you discover and dive deeper.
