Do you need counseling or coaching? Two FAQ's
Many women who discover me are shocked because they thought their only option for growth was counseling. Nope! There's a time and place for both and I hope this helps you if you're wondering what type of growth you currently need.
Counseling helps you understand your past and how it causes emotional turmoil today. It gives you closure from your past and new tools to move you beyond patterns that you no longer want. It also helps you sort through difficult situations in your present (handling divorce, sickness, abuse, death, etc)
Counseling is so important for most, if not all of us, because it helps you understand you.
Counseling was very helpful for me when I was going through my divorce.
Coaching gives you clarity about where you want to go, helps you determine your blueprint to get you there, and holds you accountable so that you stay out of your own way.
I have invested in coaching several times to help me move through my mindset blocks and to hold me accountable for business, relationship, and health growth.
The majority of women who coach with me have been counseled in the past and sometimes they are in counseling while they work with me.
And this makes sense because, for a person who wants to continue growing and developing themselves, coaching is the next progression.
Coaching is important for most, if not all of us, because it helps us quickly get to our next amazing levels in our careers, relationships, and health.
It brings clarity, joy, peace, confidence, self-trust, self-compassion, expanded comfort zones, and of course, results for living your life full-on and on purpose today, tomorrow, next year, and beyond.
Two FAQ:
I’ve been in counseling for a long time and I’m tired of just talking about my life. How is coaching different?
I hear this a lot. Coaching is definitely about getting clear and actioning on the life you are excited to live on purpose vs. talking about your life.
It’s accountability and support to keep you moving forward when your mind gives you push-back, which it absolutely will, because to your mind, positive growth always feels like danger.
And if you stop every time you feel the standard-issue discomfort of growth, you never get anywhere. A lot of my clients refer to life before coaching as being on a hamster wheel. They knew what to do they just couldn't follow-through to do it.
How do I know when I’ve outgrown counseling and am ready for a coach?
You don’t look as forward to your appointments and you may feel an energy drain when you think about going because you’re tired of talking. You feel discontentment.
You are becoming curious about self-growth areas and you’re starting to ‘see’ and be open to them.
Your Google searches have gone from ‘why am I…’ to ‘how do I…’.
You are becoming curious about up-leveling your health, career, or relationships
You’re starting to feel frustrated and fed-up with how you’re living life now. You may describe it as living half-awake or not to your full-potential.
