Let me tell you about the time I got ready at the YMCA after a workout.

 

Me and this chick both reached the locker area after our showers at the same time.

 

We both needed to get dressed, fix our hair, and put on some makeup. 

 

I put my clothes on first, then fixed my hair, and finally put on some makeup. I felt at ease doing this and completed one task at a time. 

 

The chick next to me, however, was frazzled! She was trying to put on her socks while combing her hair and trying to put on her shoes while putting on her makeup. 

 

I’m assuming she had an appointment that she thought she needed to rush to get to. But the thing is, I had an appointment I was heading too also. 

 

Guess who got ready and strolled out first without smeared mascara and shoes on the right feet? Me. 

 

My story begs the question: Do you want to be more productive and less stressed than ever? 

 

Stay present with what you’re choosing to do with your time. 

 

Time is relative. It expands and constricts not only with what you’re doing with it but also what you’re thinking about what you’re doing with it. 

 

Just like my YMCA story. We both literally had the same amount of time but hers felt restrictive and mine felt expansive. 

 

Do you spend your time each day…

 

Thinking about all that you have to do before lunch? By bedtime? By the end of the week? To stay on track with life in general? 

 

If so, you’re not being now or present with what you’re doing now. Time will feel restrictive and you will always feel like there’s a lack of time.

 

Thinking about all that you have to do that you don’t want to do? 

 

Get in the habit of remembering that you ultimately are choosing everything that you’re doing (or not doing) with your time. 

 

Don’t want to do it? Delegate it or hey, don’t do it (we make up a shit ton of stories about this topic...worthy of another post).

 

But if it’s on your calendar and you have agreed to do it, do it with gusto! Time will feel more expansive and you will be more energized and joyful even if the task is shitty like cleaning the toilet ;) Get it? Hahaha.

 

Over-thinking the next tasks? Where to start? Or what you don’t know about getting said tasks done?

 

If so, come back to now, the only time it ever is to take an action. Remember, any next action that gets you off the start line is the absolute best and right action. Thinking about taking action is not useful.

 

You get to choose what you do with your time and how you’re going to think about what you’re choosing to do with your time.

 

Staying present during your 1,440 minutes of daily nows allows you to shine and be the most productive and least stressed person you know!
