Periods NEED to be at the end of these sentences.
"I commit to speaking up to Beth during the meeting today."
I am working out after work."
"I’ve decided I am packing my lunch 3x this week."
Aren’t these sentences great? They’re short, to the point, and matter-of-fact. Hell yeah!
And since we humans feel our thinking and take action (or not) based on the thoughts we think, these sentences expedite the results we want to see.
Yet what are we in the habit of doing? Forgetting the period and staying up in our heads. We turn these powerful, action-oriented sentences into run-on, diluted paragraphs.
"I really want to speak up to Beth during the meeting today but I need to ask Mary and Joan what they think first. And the more I think about it the more I think I might make it worse if I say anything because what if she thinks I'm being a bitch and then makes my life miserable? Maybe I'll wait until next week's meeting so I can think about it some more and make sure I'm prepared."
When you forget the period you allow your mind to spin out into the future and that’s the worst place to live because it stalls you out from taking bold and clear actions on the tasks that move you forward.
Learning how to manage your mind and listen to your body is the best RX around because you become the woman who sets boundaries and honors them. Makes firm decisions and follows up with bold actions. Speaks from-the-heart words without self-imposed responsibility for other people's feelings.
Life is more free, authentic, and easy when you shorten up those sentences!
I challenge you to pay attention to your sentence structures this week. Where do you need big, fat, action-oriented periods?
Holler at me if you're ready to expedite your process and become a period-using badass! :)
